How to Add and Remove Trading Instruments in MetaTrader 5 (MT5)

MetaTrader 5 (MT5) allows you to customize your Market Watch list by adding or removing trading instruments such as forex pairs, metals, indices, and more. Managing your instruments keeps your platform organized and ensures quick access to the markets you trade most.

Step 1: Open the Market Watch Window

• On Desktop: Press Ctrl+M or click View → Market Watch.

• On Mobile App: Tap the Quotes tab at the bottom of your screen.

Step 2: Add Trading Instruments

• In the Market Watch window, right-click anywhere and select Show All (shows all symbols) or Symbols (to add a single symbol).

• A new window will open, showing all available categories (Forex, Metals, Indices, etc.).

• Click on a category to expand the list.

• Double-click an instrument to add it to your Market Watch.

  • A yellow checkmark (or highlighted row) means the instrument is active.

Step 3: Remove Trading Instruments

• In Market Watch, right-click the instrument you want to remove.

• Select Hide.

• Alternatively, click Delete on your keyboard (Desktop only).

Step 4: Arrange Your Instruments

• Drag and drop instruments in the Market Watch window to reorder them.

• Organizing by volatility or session times can help optimize your workflow.
