How to Add Indicators to Your MT5 Charts
MetaTrader 5 (MT5) comes with built-in technical indicators and allows you to install custom indicators for advanced analysis. Adding indicators to your charts helps identify trends, momentum, and market conditions for better trading decisions.
Step 1: Open MetaTrader 5 and Load a Chart
Launch MT5 and select the instrument chart where you want to apply the indicator.
Step 2: Access the Indicators Menu
On Desktop:
Click Insert → Indicators from the top menu.
Choose the category:
Trend (e.g., Moving Averages)
Oscillators (e.g., RSI, Stochastic)
Volumes
Custom Indicators
On Mobile:
Open the chart.
Tap the ƒx icon at the top of the screen.
Step 3: Select and Customize Your Indicator
Pick the desired indicator (e.g., RSI).
Adjust parameters such as:
Period
Color scheme
Levels
Click OK to apply.
Step 4: Add Multiple Indicators
You can apply more than one indicator by repeating the process. Use separate windows for oscillators or overlay trend indicators on the price chart.
Step 5: Remove Indicators (If Needed)
Desktop: Right-click the chart → Select Indicators List → Remove any indicator.
Mobile: Tap ƒx, select the indicator, then Delete.
